More than 200,000 people were killed in the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, Haiti's Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive said on Wednesday, according to Reuters and the Asssociated France Press.

Bellerive said 300,000 people were injured in the earthquake and at least 4,000 amputations were carried out.

250,000 homes were destroyed and 30,000 businesses were lost, he added, according to AFP.
