“Halo 5: Guardians” is set to release on Oct. 27, and many fans have been wondering whether Master Chief’s face will finally be revealed. Game developer 343 Industries confirmed to Game Rant that, no, the helmet would not be coming off anytime soon.

“I actually don’t know if I can even talk about that,” said Tim Longo, creative director at 343 Industries, during Microsoft Canada’s X15 event. “He doesn’t take his helmet off.”

Master Chief’s face has remained a mystery, hidden behind his helmet since “Halo: Combat Evolved” was released in November 2001.

The character, also known as John-117, is a super soldier known as a Spartan. Since he is one of the central characters in the franchise, it's understandable that fans are speculating about his looks.

Upon completing “Halo 4” in Legendary mode, players caught a glimpse at Master Chief’s eyes, which fueled the potential for a full face reveal. Now sadly, fans will have to wait at least until the next game drops in a few years.
