"Halo: Spartan Assault" is coming this July and will be released exclusively for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Sorry, iOS and Android users.

Played from an isometric perspective a la "League of Legends" and other strategy games, "Halo: Spartan Assault" is built to take advantage of touch-enabled devices, featuring 25 missions set between the events of "Halo 3" and "Halo 4."

"Halo: Spartan Assault," developed in tandem by 343 Industries and Vanguard Games, claims to be accessible to a wide range of gamers, eschewing complexity in favor of ease of use. "Halo: Spartan Assault" will include leaderboards and more than 40 achievements and medals. While playing "Halo: Spartan Assault," you can unlock emblems for your "Halo 4" Spartan career. In-app purchases allows you to buy better armor, weapons and boosts. Could "Halo: Spartan Assault"'s Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 exclusivity make those devices more desireable to gamers and fans of the "Halo" series? We're doubtful, but time will tell.

What do you think of "Halo: Spartan Assault?" Does "Halo: Spartan Assault" sound like a game you would play, or is it too big of a departure from the overall series? Would "Halo: Spartan Assault"'s Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 exclusivity make you want to buy a device running either OS? Sound off in the comments below.
