Halt Season 2 Rumors 2
Will AMC renew "Halt and Catch Fire?" AMC

The first Season of AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire” came to end Sunday with the Season 1 finale, “1984.” Fans are now left wondering if AMC will renew the tech drama for a second season. The network has been silent on its plans for the show, weighing meager ratings, mixed critical reviews and a small cult following.

A renewal or cancelation for Season 2 is up in the air. “Halt and Catch Fire” creators Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rodgers spoke with TV Guide about their hopes that AMC will renew the show for a second season.

“Creatively, we've all been really thrilled with the way that this show turned out, and I know that they're [AMC] proud of the artistic work that everyone's done,” Cantwell told TV Guide. “We've had a tremendous partner in them with how supportive they've been of what we wanted to do with Season 1. So, it would be wonderful to continue that relationship into a second season. But we know that they have a lot of things to take into consideration in the meantime.”

However, Rodgers said it was important for the first season to end with some closure, just in case. "You do want it to be a satisfactory story on its own," the creator added. "I think the best shows manage to bring you a sense of closure, but also return you to this feeling of, 'This is just a chapter in a larger story.'"

Both Rodgers and Cantwell hope AMC’s history of patience with shows like “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad” will continue with their show. Actor Lee Pace has been vocal about his desire to work on a second season of “Halt” and further explore his character, telling TV Line, "Everyone involved would like to have another shot to keep working on these characters."

Fans will have to wait for AMC’s decision to know if they will get to enjoy more of Pace’s character with more “Halt and Catch Fire.”
