At this time last year, while “Sons of Anarchy” fans were mourning the beginning of the FX show’s seventh and final season, one of the show’s stars, Ron Perlman, appeared in a pilot for the new Amazon series “Hand of God.” The premiere, which was made available for free on the site, introduced Perlman as a corrupt judge on a mission of vengeance and many fans were hooked. However, viewers have waited over a year, since Amazon made a full season order of the show in October, for the whole season. Luckily, the wait is over.

Season 1 of “Hand of God” will be available for streaming to all Amazon Prime members for free starting Friday, Sept. 4, at 12:00 a.m. EDT. The debut season consists of 10 episodes. The pilot has been available for streaming to all Amazon users, not just Amazon Prime users, since its initial release on Aug. 28, 2014 and can be watched on the site now.

In “Hand of God,” Perlman plays Pernell Harris, a corrupt, morally reprehensible judge who suffers a mental breakdown after his son’s attempted suicide. In the aftermath, Harris believes God starts talking to him while he is at his son’s bedside waiting for him to wake from a coma. Harris comes to believe that God wants him to hunt down the man who raped his son’s wife, leading to his attempted suicide, leading him down a dark path of vengeance. In addition to Perlman, the series stars Dana Delany, Andre Royo, Garret Dillahunt, and Alona Tal with musicians Erykah Badu and Lance Bass lined up as guest stars.

For “Sons of Anarchy” fans, Perlman thinks viewers will find his Judge Pernell Harris to be a kindred character to Clay Morrow, the gang member he portrayed in the FX series.

“They’re both men who have a large voice in their community and think of themselves as constantly being in a position where their decisions affect the greater good. And in so doing, both convince themselves that they have to be right before they do anything,” Perlman told TVLine. “Once they do it, there is no looking back. There is no questioning. That’s what put Clay in the moral twilight.”

Is Judge Harris really an agent of God? Will he get the justice he seeks? Fans will not have to wait long to binge-watch the show and find out. “Hand of God” Season 1 premieres on Amazon Prime on Friday.
