A California woman sued Nalge Nunc International on Wednesday, the maker of hard-plastic bottle which contains a chemical which has raised health concerns among consumers.

Lani Felix-Lozano, who says she bought the containers for herself and children, filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Sacramento, according to Reuters.

She accuses the company of stating that the chemical, bisphenol A, is safe despite studies which link the chemical to health problems, including prostate cancer. She is seeking unspecified damages.

The bottle-maker, a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc, said on April 18 that it would be pulling the Nalgene Outdoor line of bottles from stores after hearing from customers that they preferred an alternative to the chemical. The company said it believes the products are safe.
