Niantic will finally launch “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” on June 21.

“Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” is the second big release from Portkey Games, the gaming label of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game invites you to be the center of new adventures in the wizarding world and is inspired by J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series. “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” was created in collaboration with Niantic, the makers of “Pokémon Go.”

The game has you working for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, an organization formed by the Minister of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards that seeks to investigate and contain the Calamity.

Due to unknown forces called the Calamity, artifacts, people, beasts and even memories from the wizarding world, known as Foundables, seem to be appearing in the present-day Muggle reality. It’s up to you and all the other witches and wizards to unite together to rescue the Foundables and return everything to its rightful place.

The game plays a lot like “Pokémon Go” in that it is an augmented reality game for the mobile phone. Players get to create their avatar using selfie-mode and have the choice of using augmented reality wizarding accessories such as Luna Lovegood’s Spectrespecs and the like. Players will then set their house affiliation and wand in order to create their Ministry ID.

The game will feature real-world 360-degree exploration, and with the use of augmented reality technology, your phone will create a magical map that imitates your actual surroundings. Regular Muggle buildings will transform into Inns, Fortresses, and more. Witches and wizards will then be able to overpower the Calamity with their wands in order to restore order to the Muggle world. You will be able to tell if there is a Foundable near you with the help of the Trace. You can then use the augmented reality technology to look around for it.

Once you find it, you’ll need to trace a glyph on your phone screen, much like the wand motions read about in “Harry Potter,” in order to dispel the Confoundable spell. If you succeed, the Foundable will be restored to its rightful place in the wizarding world.

The game previously launched a beta in Australia and New Zealand, however, it’s now set to launch worldwide this June 21, according to an official tweet from the game’s twitter account.
