American Sniper
"American Sniper," starring Bradley Cooper, pictured here as real-life Marine Chris Kyle in the 2014 film, will be available to stream on HBO Now in October 2015. Warner Bros.

As September draws to a close, HBO is ushering in the Halloween season with a bevy of scary movies coming to its popular streaming service, HBO Now. Unfortunately, the monthly addition of movies also leads to the monthly subtraction of some popular hits.

Whether you’ve been an early adopter of HBO Now or are just getting on board thanks to the temporary account information of Emmys host Andy Samberg, you’ll probably need to know that the service’s library is subject to monthly changes just like Netflix or Hulu. In October, HBO will be adding some spooky movies to get users in a haunting mood such as “The Purge: Anarchy” and “The Pyramid” coming on Halloween night. Movies like “Dawn of the Dead,” “Gothika” and “Queen of the Damned” will be available throughout the month as well.

Fans of the HBO series “The Leftovers” will no doubt be tuning in to the Season 2 premiere, and comedy fans will have a ball when Amy Schumer drops her stand-up special “Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo.” Hit movies such as the Oscar-nominated "American Sniper" will become available to stream as well. If you’re looking for more family-based fare, fear not, HBO Now is still for you. The streaming service will be providing kid-friendly titles such as “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Bee Movie,” “Ella Enchanted,” “Happy Feet” and “Shrek.”

Check out an extended list of just some of the popular titles coming to and leaving HBO Now at various dates throughout October.
