Latin America-focused precious metals miner Hochschild Mining Plc said Thursday its silver production last quarter fell 12 percent while its gold production was down two percent.

The London-based company, which has operations in Peru, Argentina, Chile and Mexico, produced 5,473,000 ounces of silver in the third-quarter compared to 6,227,000 ounces in the year-earlier period.

Its attributable production of silver was 3,791,000 ounces and 33,490 ounces of gold.

CEO Ignacio Bustamante said the company is on schedule to hit its full-year 2011production target of 22.5 million attributable silver equivalent ounces.

Shares were up slightly in midday trading.
