Despite delays and numerous problems, it looks like “Homefront: The Revolution” is set for release. The game will be coming to North America on May 17, while Europe will be getting the game on May 20. “Homefront: The Revolution” will be available on the PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

As Game Informer pointed out, 2015 wasn’t a good year for Deep Silver, the publisher of “Homefront: The Revolution.” The studio was forced to delay the highly anticipated “Dead Island 2,” due to a falling out with developer Yager. This also led to the aforementioned delay of “The Revolution,” and resulted in the publisher having to make a new development studio called Dambuster.

Still, despite all of that, “Homefront: The Revolution” looks like it’s ready for release, at least from what can be seen in the trailer below. Like the original “Homefront,” the game focuses on the United States under North Korean rule, with Philadelphia being the main focus.

Of course, the residents of Philly aren’t going to go down that easy. Players will attempt to fight back and get rid of the enemy in a full-scale warzone, with plenty of gun battles and explosions.

Players interested in the game can sign up for the official beta test in the game’s official website, according to Gematsu. The beta test is exclusive to those with an Xbox One, so PS4 and PC owners are going to have to wait for a review to see if the game is going to be worth getting.

It seems like “The Revolution” is a sequel to the original “Homefront” that came out on last-gen consoles a few years ago. While the game didn’t set the first-person shooter (FPC) genre on fire, it was praised for its story and voice acting. It will be interesting to see what “The Revolution” does to differentiate itself from the original.

“Homefront: The Revolution” might have taken it’s time, but it looks like fans are in for a treat with this one. Considering all the trouble the game and the developers have been through, it looks like 2016 could be a better year for Deep Silver.
