Following her breakdown in episode 7 of "Homeland," it appears Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is back on terrorist Haissam Haqqani’s (Numan Acar) trail in next Sunday’s installment. Showtime’s synopsis for Season 4 episode 8, “Halfway To A Donut,” teases that it will be Carrie who organizes a “last-ditch operation” to save her longtime mentor and the former director of the CIA, Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), from Haqqani’s grasp. Her boss, CIA director Andrew Lockhart (Tracy Letts) and U.S. Ambassador Martha Boyd (Laila Robbins) will reportedly stay on the sidelines to distract Pakistani intelligence.

“I know where Saul is,” Carrie tells Lockhart in the episode 8 promo after it is revealed that Haqqani wants to use Saul as part of a prisoner exchange. While Carrie appears to have intel on Saul’s location, Saul tells the CIA and the Pakistani ISI that he doesn’t want to be saved. “Don’t do it!” he says in the promo. “Tell them to go to hell!"

Not only is Carrie back to her old self, a sneak peek video also shows that she will find out the truth about her episode 7 bipolar-related breakdown which caused her hallucinate her late lover, Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis). After waking up to find herself in Pakistani intelligence official Aasar Khan's (Raza Jaffrey) home, Carrie is seen in a hospital gown and appearing to receive treatment in the clip.

“Carrie! Where have you been? What happened?” Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) asks Carrie.

“We have a breach here at the embassy. Somebody switched out my meds,” Carrie says. She goes on to tell Quinn to arrange a secret meeting with Lockhart so they can find out the traitor within Islamabad's U.S. Embassy. “I need you, him and me in the secure room as soon as possible, just the three of us until we can figure out who we can trust,” she says.
