Desperate times call for desperate measures. After being shot by a mystery assailant Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) and Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will try to figure out the dead man’s identity in “Homeland” Season 5, episode 5. And as expected, it will be a dangerous task.

In the promo video for “Better Call Saul,” Carrie goes to an unlikely source for help -- Peter’s former flame Astrid (Nina Hoss). “I need your help. I’m literally putting my life in your hands,” Carrie begs Astrid in the preview. While she does not give Carrie an answer, a sneak-peek video for Sunday’s episode reveals she agreed to lend her expertise to help her and Quinn discover the man’s identity. “She said she would do some looking for your sake,” Carrie tells Quinn.

“She likes me. What can I say?” he responds.

“Her one redeeming quality as far as I can tell,” Carrie quips.

Finding the man’s identity won’t be the duo’s only problem. The sneak peek reveals Quinn’s gunshot wound isn’t getting better. When Carrie asks Quinn what she can do to help him, he suggests she commit a crime.

“How do you feel about armed robbery?” he asks. “There’s an emergency room about a mile down the street.”

Watch Quinn ask Carrie for help in episode 5:

While the video cuts off before viewers can find out whether Carrie, who is in hiding and believed to be dead, will do it, the photos for episode 5 reveal she will find herself in the presence of potential danger: her former ally Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin). Viewers will remember Quinn revealed Saul ordered Carrie dead in episode 4, but from the look of the episode 5 photos, it doesn't appear Saul has any intention of hurting Carrie. The images show the two sitting in a car together with Carrie donning her dark-haired wig.

The rest of episode 5 will touch on the shocking death of General Youssef (Igal Naor). After Saul gifted him $10 million and told him the U.S. would be on his side if he decided to replace Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the General’s plane took off at the conclusion of episode 4 only to explode in mid-air. The synopsis reveals Saul and Allison will work together to “assess the damage.” The promo video shows Saul asking Etal Luskin (Allan Corduner) for answers, but it doesn’t appear he will cooperate.

Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) will also make an appearance in episode 5 in hopes of uncovering the truth about the General’s death. In a second sneak-peek video Dar asks Allison if she has any working theories about what caused the explosion. “Somebody betrayed us,” she says.

“Ya think?” Dar responds sarcastically. Dar goes on to ponder if the breech occurred in Berlin or back at the CIA’s headquarters in Langely, Virginia. “I’m not going there yet,” Allison responds.

“Let’s hope to hell you don’t have to,” Dar says.
