When Gwen Stefani was going through a divorce with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, the 46-year-old singer turned to music as a way to deal with it. Stefani started working on her first solo album in 10 years, "This Is What The Truth Feels Like," and at first there was some anger and sadness during the process. However, that all changed when she started dating country singer Blake Shelton.

In an interview with The New York Times, Stefani said she never saw the relationship with Shelton coming and referred to the change in her music as "crazy." The two singers were both going through divorce at the same time and their bond only grew from there. Songwriter Justin Tranter explained that there was a change in the No Doubt singer throughout the process of recording the new album, which can be traced back to how her feelings grew with the "Sangria" singer.

"We had anger, we had sadness, we had flirtation, we had sexy, and now we’re madly in love," Tranter dished.

Stefani is not the only inspired by the relationship. While the "Hollaback Girl" singer has confirmed that her single "Make Me Like You," is about Shelton, the 39-year-old country singer has also written about Stefani. Shelton's new song "Came Here to Forget" is about the two of them moving on from their divorces together and the first time they kissed.

Another new single has been released by Stefani called "Misery," which also appears to be about Shelton. In the song she sings "Put me out of my misery/ hurry up come see me" and "You’re like drugs to me/ I’m so into you totally."

Stefani told Entertainment Weekly that her new album is happening in "real time." "I’ve never had a record that’s been about happiness, so that feels really good and different. And I’ve never had records come out while it’s going on," Stefani said.

"This Is What The Truth Feels Like" comes out Friday, March 18.
