The death of longtime Texas radio host David “Kidd’ Kraddick, 53, rocked the entertainment world Saturday, with everyone from fans of the syndicated “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” to his many celebrity guests sharing their support for the fallen entertainer. Amid the shock and remembrances, one question remained unanswered: What caused him to pass away so suddenly and at such a young age?

According to a coroner’s report released Tuesday via Fox News, a preliminary autopsy showed Kraddick died from an enlarged heart, blocked arteries and most likely an irregular heartbeat. Dr. Granville Morse, deputy coroner at Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office in Louisiana, said early toxicology reports showed the radio host’s arteries were 40-80 percent blocked. Kraddick died in New Orleans July 27 at a charity golf tournament for Kidd's Kids, a nonprofit organization started by his show that helps raise money for kids with terminal illnesses.

Morse confirmed that Kraddick was treated by doctors at Ochsner Medical Center campus after collapsing en route to a hospital Saturday but medical professionals were unable to revive him. The “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” team released a statement Monday saying the entertainer’s cause of death would be released at a later date, confirming he passed away following the charity event in New Orleans Saturday.

“He died doing what he loved,” said a rep. “His final day was spent selflessly focused on those special children who meant the world to him."

Kraddick’s former co-stars paid tribute to the show’s star Monday with a special episode praising his 11-year run on the program. “Our hearts are very heavy at the loss of Kidd Kraddick, and words are very difficult for us to come up with at this time,” the radio station announced during the special remembrance episode.

Besides the former show co-stars paying tribute, many celebrities also publicly expressed their grief. “So sad hearing about my radio brother Kidd Kraddick,” said fellow radio host Ryan Seacrest on Twitter Monday. “One of a kind and one of the best at what he did every morning,” Texas native and singer Kelly Clarkson also shared her condolences. “He's my childhood DJ. What a sad day. His poor family. He was always nice to me from the beginning,” she said.
