Owning the exclusive Hermès Birkin handbag is a dream for most fashionistas, but not everyone who yearns for the purse is able to pronounce it. Not only is it difficult to buy a Birkin bag, it’s also hard to read the word — if you don’t know how to say it.

While it might look like it would be pronounced “her-mees” like the Greek God of war, it’s actually pronounced, “air-mez.” Part of the problem is that Hermès is a French fashion company, so sometimes those words are hard for English language speakers to pronounce.

In case there is still any confusion, a YouTube clip of how to phonetically say Hermès has been provided below. The word loops several times so listeners have a chance to say it aloud with the recording.

Turns out, the legendary Hermès Birkin is a better investment than gold and stocks, a study from Baghunter, a website that sells luxury handbags, revealed Tuesday. The study looked at three investments over 35-year period and the value of the Birkin bag has never decreased.

More than that, while the value of gold and stocks goes up and down, the value of the Birkin bag has increased 500 percent during the time the study took place. "The study displays how high-end, rare and sought-after luxury items such as Hermès Birkin handbags have never dropped in value, even during times of recession and economic difficulty," Evelyn Fox, founder of Baghunter, told Luxury Daily.

The Birkin bag starts at a price of $11,000, according to Us Weekly. The most expensive bag ever sold, which of course was a Birkin, went for $222,000 at a June 2015 auction in Hong Kong, Forbes reported.

Though it seems like it’s a great investment, it’s nearly impossible to get one. There is a years-long waiting list just to view a bag.
