American households are now eligible for eight more free at-home COVID tests as the federal government doles out a third round of kits amid a rise in cases of the virus in the U.S.

Each household in the country is eligible to receive eight free rapid antigen COVID-19 tests by visiting www.covid.gov/tests and filling out the required information.

Individuals will need to fill out their contact information and mailing address to receive the test kits, which will be mailed in two separate packages with four tests in each package. The packages will ship for free.and each kit come with its own tracking number.

The first round of COVID test kits began mailing to American households back in January, with the second round of tests were sent out in March. This third round of free at-home COVID-19 tests comes as cases of the virus creep upward across the country in recent weeks.

The nation’s leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has said that it is likely that the U.S. will see a surge of COVID cases through the end of the year.

He told PBS on Thursday that “There is a threat and a likelihood that we'll see a surge as we get into the fall and the winter. So we've got to be prepared.”
