The “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 1 midseason premiere Thursday, but fans might not remember what happened in the first half of the season. Of course, every “HTGAWM” viewer remembers Wes (Alfred Enoch) hitting Sam (Tom Verica) with the trophy, but plenty of other craziness also went down. The ABC show is filled with twists and drama, so it’s easy to forget the details. Luckily, you have this handy “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 1 refresher. Here are eight things that happened in the first half of Season 1 that you need to know:

The Keating Five -- Despite hardly seeing the students in class, they are indeed in law school (and supposedly taking other classes as well). Annalise (Viola Davis) picked five of them as interns. She was initially only supposed to pick four, but Wes (Alfred Enoch) was added in at the last minute. Wes and Annalise’s relationship has a lot of weird aspects. She tried to hit on him before adding him to the Keating Five, and she also let him cover up her husband’s murder. However, it’s important to remember that only four of the five -- Wes, Laurel (Karla Souza), Michaela (Aja Naomi King) and Connor (Jack Falahee) -- were involved in the actual murder. Asher (Matt McGorry) still has no idea what happened, but he does have the murder weapon. Michaela had stolen the trophy that exempted the winner from the final exam, and Wes used it to kill Sam.

Annalise and Sam -- Annalise had a tumultuous relationship with her husband Sam (Tom Verica). It was revealed that Annalise was initially the other woman in one of Sam’s prior relationships. She wasn’t surprised that he cheated. After all, she was cheating with Nate (Billy Brown). However, she was hurt to learn that her husband had been sleeping with his student Lila Stanguard (Megan West). She was also shocked when she found out Lila was pregnant when she was murdered. Annalise seems to truly believe her husband killed Lila. She sent Nate to look at Sam’s alibi. Even though they broke up and Nate was angry that she got him fired, Nate still looked into Sam’s excuses. He was supposedly a guest speaker at another college, but he didn’t show up. It seems he returned home to talk to Lila the night that she was killed. Presumably, that’s why Annalise allowed Wes to move Sam’s body and cover up his murder.

Rebecca -- While Annalise blames Sam for Lila's murder, most people blame Lila’s boyfriend Griffin (Lenny Platt) and her friend/drug dealer Rebecca (Katie Findlay). As it turns out, Rebecca doesn’t have much motive for killing Lila. However, she has quite a bit of information about Sam and Lila’s affair. That’s why Sam went after her on Murder Night. She was trying to get information from his computer. The files would have been given to Nate, and he would’ve been able to put Sam away. However, Sam tried to attack Rebecca. Eventually, Wes hit him over the head with Professor Keating’s trophy (which Asher was supposed to have) and killed him. Because no one can know they were at the Keating house that night, Wes had to destoy the USB with the evidence against Sam. Without that evidence, Rebecca and Griffin are still the main suspects.

Laurel And Frank -- Bonnie (Liza Weil) and Frank (Charlie Weber) assist Annalise and the students, but they also play an interesting part in the mystery. Initially, Frank disliked Laurel, but then he started cheating on his girlfriend with her. After he broke up with his other girlfriend, their relationship started to get more serious. He tried to call her on Murder Night, and she ended up going to his apartment with the murder weapon. However, she didn’t tell him about Sam. She just asked him to get the trophy back to Asher. While Frank doesn’t know that Laurel covered up a murder, Laurel doesn’t know that Frank planted Lila’s phone in Griffin’s car for Annalise.

Bonnie And Asher -- The other assistant-student relationship is less dramatic. Bonnie and Asher had a one night stand on Murder Night. It gives them a very good alibi, and it’ll probably make for a hilarious morning after in the midseason premiere of "How To Get Away With Murder."

Michaela’s Past -- Outside of nearly having a nervous breakdown on Murder Night, Michaela manages to appear extremely put together and acts superior to everyone. She is engaged to an aspiring politician from a wealthy family, and she freaked out when Connor revealed that he had hooked up with her fiancé Aiden (Elliot Knight) in high school. Yet, she didn’t leave him. She stayed with him and even tried to avoid a prenuptial agreement. However, his mother wouldn’t allow that. Michaela was told that her future mother-in-law would send her back to “that backwoods bayou swamp” that she came from, and that's when Michaela tried to slapped her. Eventually, Michaela had to give in and sign the prenup. However, she might not make it down the aisle after Aiden learns that she lost her ring on Murder Night.

Connor -- Throughout the first half of the season, Connor has slept with many men, but he kept coming back to Oliver (Conrad Ricamora). Initially, Connor just wanted his hacking skills. He seduced him to do illegal favors to help win cases. Eventually, Oliver was fed up with Connor’s emotional distance and dumped him. However, Connor seems to have strong feelings even if he won’t admit it. He showed up on Oliver’s doorstep during his breakdown after Murder Night. When he woke up the next day, he was back to his usual unattached self and claimed he was just on a bad drug trip. However, Connor, who usually annoyingly arrogant, is still nervous about being caught in the midseason premiere.

Wes -- Michaela isn’t the only one with a past. Wes has revealed parts of his past to Rebecca as they’ve fallen in love. He grew up in Ohio as the only black person in his town. His mother committed suicide when he was 12. Wes has also shown that he can keep a secret. He never told anyone that Annalise hit on him early in the semester. He never told anyone besides Annalise that the wallpaper in the background of the picture on Lila’s phone was in the Keating’s bathroom. He never told anyone that Annalise saw him standing over Sam’s dead body when he went back for the trophy. But he can also lie. He pretended to be Lila’s lawyer in order to speak to her while she was in jail. Wes might have plenty of other secrets and lies up his sleeve, but fans will have to watch to see if any of them are revealed.

“How To Get Away With Murder” Season 1 returns to ABC on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 10 p.m. EST.
