Just when you thought things couldn't get any crazier than they already are on ABC's hit drama “How to Get Away With Murder,” creator Shonda Rhimes is turning up the heat. During the show's Season 2 finale, Annalise (Viola Davis), who left town to escape Phillip (Jefferson White) and the rest of the chaos taking place around Middleton University, will be visited by an unexpected family member who's sure to stir things up.

E! Online shared a new preview for the episode, titled “Anna Mae,” that suggests Annalise’s peaceful visit with her mother will be anything but. The pair are shown sitting around a table, chatting about everything that’s gone on in the last few months — namely the shooting that nearly cost the esteemed lawyer her life. Her mother (Cicely Tyson) says she’s attended many funerals since last she saw her daughter and is thankful that hers wasn’t one of them. Annalise says she’s doing better since the incident, but her mother knows that’s not the case. She reminds her that she may be feeling better, but that doesn’t mean she's back to 100 percent — why else would she be there if everything was fine?

Their mother-daughter moment is swiftly interrupted by a Annalise’s father, who claims he caught wind of her return and felt it was necessary to pop by. The look on the Middleton University professor’s face suggests his presence may not be welcome.

According to the episode 15 synopsis, released by ABC, Annalise’s unexpected visitor won’t be the only jaw-dropper during the finale. While Annalise attempts to run from the drama, the Keating Five is forced to face it head on — and it’s tearing them apart. Meanwhile, Frank (Charlie Webber) is still trying to mend his broken heart after breaking up with Laurel (Karla Souza) over his dark past. His heartache may send him over the edge, according to a video preview for “Anna Mae.” Bonnie (Liza Wiel) can be heard urging him not to “do something dumb” — could Frank kill again?

The video also suggests that local police may be on to Annalise and her motley crew of hopeful lawyers. The team is shown staring intently at security video footage of the police precinct, though no reason is given in the clip. In an effort to alleviate some of the stress, Michaela (Aja Naomi King) and Asher (Matt McGorry) will continue their forbidden — and unexpected — sexual relationship, sparked in episode 14.

"HTGAWM" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
