It’s been months since Season 1 of “How to Get Away With Murder” wrapped up, but fans of the ABC drama will finally get to catch back up with Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) and her team when Season 2 premieres on Thursday. From the death of Rebecca (Katie Findlay) to the big Frank (Charlie Weber) reveal, viewers are dying to dive back into the twisted world of the Keating Five. And Season 2 is promising to deliver some much needed answers about the show’s main characters.

International Business Times spoke with “How to Get Away With Murder” star Liza Weil in June at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas. Weil, 38, plays Annalise’s associate Bonnie Winterbottom. The character kept things pretty low key in episode 1 – besides crushing on Annalise’s husband Sam (Tom Verica) and hooking up with student Asher Millstone (Matt McGorry). However, that will all change in Season 2.

“I think the longer that we’re on the air the more opportunity we’re going to have to explore the origins of how these people came together and what their motivations are,” Weil told IBT. “And I think that’s the thing with these kinds of shows, is that I think it takes a little while to learn about all these people. But when you do it’s always worth the wait … I’m really excited.”

Showrunner Pete Norwalk already revealed to Entertainment Weekly earlier this month that viewers will “find out more about how Bonnie and Annalise know each other.” Exactly what will fans learn? It’s unclear right now, but those who watched Season 1 can’t forget Bonnie’s infamous firing after she told her boss about Sam’s baby/ the kiss. And as if that relationship couldn’t get any more awkward, Annalise ended up hiring Bonnie back a short time later. There is obviously an interesting backstory waiting to be told.

What new developments lie ahead remain to be seen, but one thing is certain – Weil is waiting to find out just like fans.

“We are very much in the dark [about] what’s happening plot-wise,” she revealed, explaining that they actually received multiple different endings for the Season 1 finale. “It creates excitement and energy for us, as well.”

“How to Get Away With Murder” fans can reunite with Liza Weil and the rest of the cast when Season 2 premieres on ABC on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. EDT.
