It might be a sad summer for some Dunkin’ Donuts (Nasdaq: DNKN) lovers after the coffee and doughnut chain said goodbye to the Coffee Coolatta, a sweet frozen beverage with a dose of caffeine. The company discontinued the drink in March and is replacing it with the Frozen Dunkin’ Coffee, which is essentially a revamped version of the Coffee Coolatta.

To get everyone on board, Dunkin’ launched a campaign: Free tastes of the Frozen Dunkin’ Coffee on Friday from 10-2 p.m. EDT. All customers have to do is enter a DD.

Naturally, Dunkin’ Donuts raved about their new edition, calling it an “energizing spin on your favorite coffee.” They added: “Our NEW energizing Frozen Dunkin' Coffee is smooth, creamy and full of real Dunkin’ flavor — making it the perfect way to cool off.”

They tweeted Thursday: “Coffee lovers rejoice! Frozen Dunkin’ Coffee is finally here!” The post was pinned to the top of their Twitter page, which boasts 1.15 million followers.

The Frozen Dunkin’ Coffee is made with dairy, liquid sugar cane, Dunkin’ coffee extract and blended with ice. A medium sized drink made with cream has a calorie count of 630. There are 26 grams of total fat, 16 grams of saturated fat, 90 mg of cholesterol, 95 milligrams of sodium, 96 grams of total carbs and 92 grams of sugar.

The decision to replace the Coolata was made after it was considered less than par. “Our Coffee Coolatta isn't good enough,” Chris Fuqua, senior vice president for the brand, said during a media event in March. “This product is way better.”

One thing people might not like about the new product is they cannot have it black, or without dairy.

It reportedly took Dunkin’ Donuts to craft the beverage, CNBC reported in March.

The restaurant was founded in 1950. “Dunkin' Donuts is America's favorite all-day, everyday stop for coffee and baked goods. Dunkin' Donuts is a market leader in the hot regular/decaf/flavored coffee, iced coffee, donut, bagel and muffin categories in the U.S. Dunkin' Donuts has earned the No. 1 ranking for customer loyalty in the coffee category by Brand Keys for 10 years running in the U.S.,” they write on their website. “The company has more than 12,000 restaurants in 45 countries worldwide. Based in Canton, Mass., Dunkin' Donuts is part of the Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: DNKN) family of companies.”

Their vision is “to be always the desired place for great coffee beverages and delicious complementary donuts & bakery products to enjoy with family and friends.”

They have a “commitment to coffee.” “We’re proud of our coffee, and we know that our guests feel as passionately about it as we do,” the company explained on their facts sheet. “On average, Dunkin’ Donuts sells more than 30 cups of coffee every second. Our guests recognize Dunkin’ Donuts as the place to go for a great cup of coffee in a fast, friendly, welcoming environment, and at a great value.”
