Monday was a big day for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they announced that Princess Charlotte is all set to attend nursery school in 2018, but it will be an even bigger day for Princess Charlotte herself when her first day at school rolls around in January.

The 2-year-old royal will be attending the Willcocks Nursery School in London, according to the Kensington Palace’s official Twitter, which was founded in 1964 and is located within the Holy Trinity Church.

“We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen the Willcocks Nursery School for Princess Charlotte,” the school said via a tweet by the Kensington Palace. “We look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January.”

It’s expected that the best education would be secured for the young royal, but just how much money will this early-stage schooling cost?

It’s not clear whether or not Princess Charlotte will be attending the morning school, which is five days per week for those ages 2-and-three-quarters to 5, or the afternoon school, which is three days per week and for ages 2 to 3, but both come at a fairly steep price.

The morning school costs £3050, which is about $4,088 USD per term, and there are three terms per year, bringing the total cost to around $12,264 for the year, according to the school’s site. If she’s only attending the afternoon school, then the fee would be £1800, about $2414, a term, or around $7,242 per year.

Whichever class her parents decide to sign her up for, it’s clear that they feel that this school is the right choice for her to begin her educational journey.

“They chose that nursery because they thought it would be an ideal first step for Charlotte’s education and they were impressed by the team who work there,” a source told People.

Hopefully this “ideal first step” will be documented with a sweet “first day of school” photo and shared with everyone on the Palace’s social media, much like the family’s Christmas photo was done on Monday.

As the nursery school’s term begins on Jan. 4, we hopefully won’t have to wait much longer to find out what the royal tot wears on her first day of school.

Until then, the royal Christmas photo.
