Etsy Inc. (NASD:ETSY) more than doubled its stock valuation when it opened for trading Thursday. As a result, early investors in the 10-year-old company raked in huge financial returns.

The New York online crafts marketplace priced its initial public offering at $16 per share, valuing Etsy at more than $1 billion. However, shares of the company's stock opened at $31 and reached $35.67. Etsy is offering 16.7 million shares.
