The official XWLSN Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT- I9100 was released Monday and is now available for download from Samsung Kies. The users of the Galaxy S2, with the model number GT-I9100, can also install the new firmware on their device using a manual process. For more details, click here.

However, if you are already using the official XWLSN Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware on your Galaxy S2, rooting the new firmware could be the next thing that you would like to perform on your handset. By rooting your device, you can have a full control over it. In addition, it also allows you to run custom ROMs on your device in future.

The rooting process explained below also installs the latest ClockWorkMod recovery on the Galaxy S2 that will later help install custom ROMs on the device.

Users must keep in mind that rooting the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware (XWLSN) on the Galaxy S2 will void the device’s warranty. However, users can reclaim the warranty by applying the official firmware update again.

Here’re some more important aspects to keep in mind before trying out the rooting process:

- Users must have proper backups for personal data, apps and settings

- The process is meant only for Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT- I9100) running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean (XWLSN) official firmware

- The device should have at least 80 percent of battery life

- USB Driver must be installed for Galaxy S2 in your computer with USB Debugging enabled

Note: IBTimes cannot be held responsible for anything that goes wrong. Users should proceed at their own risk.
