With the Season 25 premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” just hours away, it’s time for fans to get ready to flex their voting muscle and make sure their favorite teams stay in the competition.

The ABC series, which is celebrating its milestone silver anniversary, has often been plagued with rumors the show was rigged after favorite celebrities who have received high, and in some cases, perfect scores, being sent home unexpectedly, while others, who seemed to express less talent, would continue on in the show. The show has long claimed that the votes from viewers at home would be combined with the judges’ scores from the previous week, and that the couple with the lowest combined total of votes and scores would then be eliminated.

The show’s pros and others have previously sounded off about the claims fans make that the show is rigged to favor select teams, saying they didn’t believe such rumors were true. After Heather Morris and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were eliminated in Week 6 during the Spring 2017 season for example, Maks’ then-fiancée, Peta Murgatroyd, told Fox News that she didn’t believe the claims the show was rigged, even though she was “flabbergasted” that her husband-to-be and his partner had been knocked out of the competition.

“You know, I don’t think the show is rigged. I mean, we’ve gone over and over [it], like people ask us that all the time… Once you’re out, you’re out,” she said at the time.

Maks had previously accused the show of being rigged as well, notably after several seasons where Derek Hough took home the trophy with his partners. He had since taken back those statements, and in a recent interview with Us Weekly, fellow pro Mark Ballas admitted that they’ve all been guilty of feeling that in the moment after particularly upsetting eliminations.

“I think everyone is guilty of feeling that in the moment, but if the show was rigged, don’t you think they would have been busted by now? Sometimes the best dancer doesn’t win,” he said.

In order to make sure your favorite teams stay in the competition, fans are encouraged to remember to vote. According to a voting FAQ page for the show from Season 23, the fans can vote either by phone, online at ABC.com, or via a Facebook Canvas Page.
