HSBC aims to double its customer base in India in the next couple of years, a senior bank official said on Tuesday.

We are growing very rapidly as we speak. In the last two and a half years we have doubled our customer base and I don't see why we can't sustain this trend in the next couple of years, Simon Munter, deputy chief executive officer of HSBC's Indian arm.

He said the bank's current customer base is at 2 million.
