Iris Apfel will release a new accessory line on HSN in September called Rara Avis by Iris Apfel. The jewelry and other accessories will borrow vintage traits from Apfel's past collections and use modern influences to create statement pieces that reflect Apfel's personal rule of style: The fun of getting dressed is it's a creative process.

The collection's name, Rara Avis, comes from Apfel's nickname in the fashion world meaning rare bird. Apfel is known for her unorthodox clothing compositions which combine elegance and class with flamboyance and flair. Apfel's style has been so influential in the fashion world that she was honored with an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2005--the museum which now honors the late Alexander McQueen with its Savage Beauty exhibit.

The Rara Avis cllection was inspired by Apfel's life experiences including world travel. The collection contains an eclectic mix of brightly colored beads, animal-like pendants, pave pins and the chunky cuffs that have become Ms. Apfel's signature items. The accessories will range in price from $20 to $150.

I always say that you can change the entire look of an outfit by accessorizing. Take a black dress for instance; toss on different jewelry and create 100 different outfits. Take that principle and combine it with the fact that I have accumulated a great number of fabulous pieces over my lifetime and they culminate into something major -- my HSN line, Apfel said. Also launching an exclusive HSN line is travel expert and Travel Channel host Samantha Brown. Brown crearted her first-ever line of stylish luggae for the network which will be released on May 27.
