HTC has officially announced a new midrange smartphone, HTC Desire 830. It has arrived to succeed the HTC Desire 820 from 2014. Here is a comparison between Desire 830 and Desire 820 smartphones on the basis of their specifications, features and price.
Design and Display
The HTC Desire 830 and 820 smartphones feature plastic chassis. It measures 157.5 x 78.9 x 7.79 mm which is almost identical to the dimensions of Desire 820, 157.5 x 78.7 x 7.7 mm.
HTC Desire 830 features a 5.5-inch display that carries support for full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The Desire 820 came with a 5.5-inch HD screen. The front side of the Desire 830 as well as Desire 820 are flanked with a pair of BoomSound stereo speakers.
Chipset, RAM and Storage
The Desire 830 is powered by MediaTek Helio X10 SoC that houses an octa-core processor that clocks at 1.5 GHz and 3 GB of RAM. It comes with a single storage of 32 GB. The Desire 820 features the older Snapdragon 615 SoC and 2 GB of RAM. The native storage of Desire 820 is 16 GB. The external storage slot on both the devices carry support for up to 128 GB of microSD card.
Camera and Software
The rear side of the device features a 13-megapixel camera that is equipped with f/2.0 aperture lens. The rear camera supports optical image stabilization. There is a 4-megapixel snapper driven UltraPixel technology present on its front side. The Desire 820 has a rear camera of 13-megapixel and selfie camera of 8-megapixel.
The Desire 820 was launched with Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. However, the new Desire 830 is available with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and the latest Sense UI.
Battery and Price
The Desire 830 is powered by 2800 mAh capacity. Its predecessor features a smaller battery of 2600 mAh capacity.
The HTC Desire 830 will be available for purchase in Taiwan from May 6. It will be available for about $310. GSM Arena has reported that the smartphone may become available outside home country in future. The Desire 820 is currently selling for $279 on Amazon.
