Sprint Nextel has announced the HTC EVO Design 4G and it will hit retail stores on October 23 for $99.99, with a new two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

The phone is smaller and less powerful than last year's HTC EVO 4G, though it has the same price.

The EVO Design is powered by a 1.2GHz processor Qualcomm MSM8655 CPU, running on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread.) It sports a 4-inch qHD display, a 5 megapixel camera capable of recording HD video and a 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat. It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a standard 1520 mAh battery which lasts for 6 hours of talk time.

The phone offers both CDMA and GSM support and it's the first world phone in the HTC EVO line.

Priced at under $100, HTC EVO Design 4G is the perfect device for consumers looking for both the benefits of 4G and the latest in device style. When matched with one of the Sprint Everything Data plans, our customers will unlock the value of unlimited without worrying about the cost or surprises on their monthly bill, said Fared Adib, Sprint VP of Product Development.
