The Huawei Mate 10 is expected to come with a bezel-less design when it’s announced later this year. However, a new rumor has surfaced claiming that the Mate 10 Pro will be the only model to sport the full-screen display design.

It was recently reported by Chinese website Zol that the Mate 10 will arrive in two models: The regular Huawei Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro. The most intriguing thing about the report was that only the Mate 10 Pro will have the bezel-less design.

Huawei CEO Richard Yu confirmed last month that the Mate 10 will arrive with a full-screen display. At the time, there was no mention of a “Pro” model for the device.

The Chinese website says that the regular Huawei Mate 10 will still have a normal screen. This means that it will still have thick top and bottom bezels like its predecessor, the Huawei Mate 9.

The report also claims that the fingerprint scanner on the regular Mate 10 will be located at the front of the device instead of the back. It’s worth noting that the Mate 9 has its fingerprint sensor on its back. With the Mate 10 having its fingerprint sensor up front, the device would actually look more like the Huawei P10, as pointed out by Phone Arena.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro, on the other hand, will have its fingerprint sensor module located at the back of the device. This makes the Mate 10 Pro look more like a direct successor to the Mate 9.

This news might disappoint some fans, but it’s not completely out of left field. Earlier this month, it was rumored that the Mate 10 would have a “Lite” model which will have a 5.8-inch display. It’s possible that the rumored “Lite” model is simply the regular Huawei Mate 10, while the model with the rumored 6.1-inch display will be the Mate 10 Pro.

Another possibility here is that there might actually be three models of the Huawei Mate 10: the regular Mate 10, the Mate 10 Pro and the Mate 10 Lite. However, this seems pretty farfetched considering that Huawei has never released a “Lite” variant of its smartphones under the Mate brand.

With that all in mind, people should know that most of these are rumors for now and it’s completely plausible that one or more of them are false or just inaccurate. Huawei hasn’t officially announced anything yet, but it has been teasing the announcement of the Mate 10.

Earlier this week, Huawei’s German YouTube page published a short video confirming that the Mate 10 will arrive with dual cameras with Leica lenses. Huawei has been partners with Leica for a few years now, so the camera maker’s involvement with the Mate 10 isn’t really a huge surprise.

Huawei hasn’t announced an exact date for when the Mate 10 will be unveiled, but the popular rumor going around is that it might be on Oct. 16.
