Hungary's general government's deficit stood at 3.4% of GDP in 2008 compared to 4.9% in 2007, a preliminary report from the Central Statistical Office showed Wednesday. The deficit amounted to HUF895 billion in the month.

Total revenues grew 7.9% in 2008, after rising 12.5% in 2007. Total expenditures rose 4.4% compared to a 2.3% growth in the previous year. In 2008, the total revenues of the general government amounted to HUF12.29 billion, while expenditures totaled HUF13.19 billion.
