RTTNews - Hungary's current account deficit stood at EUR 591 million in the first quarter, lower than a deficit of EUR 2.58 billion in the fourth quarter, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank or the central bank said Tuesday.

The goods account recorded a surplus of EUR 685 million, reversing from a deficit of EUR93 million in the fourth quarter. At the same time, the services account surplus increased to EUR 137 million from EUR 40 million,while the deficit in the income and current transfers account narrowed to EUR 1.4 billion from EUR 2.5 billion in the preceding quarter.

Meanwhile, the surplus in the capital account widened to EUR 863 million in the first quarter from EUR 67 million in the fourth quarter.
