Wednesday, Hungary's Central Statistical Office said in a preliminary report that the trade surplus stood at EUR 279 million in February, after a deficit of EUR 194 million in January, revised from EUR192 million estimated initially. A year ago, the surplus was EUR 161.4 million.

Exports dropped 30% year-over-year in February, after falling 28% in January, revised from a 31% decline reported initially. Similarly, imports decreased 32% in February, following a 27% decline in the previous month, revised from a 29% fall in the preliminary report.

For the January to February period, the trade surplus amounted to EUR 85 million. During the period, exports and imports fell annually by 30% and 31%, respectively.
