Hungary's current account showed a deficit of EUR2.5 billion in the fourth quarter, narrowing from a deficit of EUR2.6 billion in the third quarter, a report by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank said Tuesday.

During the fourth quarter, the deficit in the goods account decreased to EUR93 million from EUR324 million in the previous quarter. At the same time, the services account showed a surplus of EUR40 million, down from EUR511 million in the third quarter.

The deficit in the income account narrowed to EUR2.1 billion in the fourth quarter from EUR2.5 billion in the previous quarter. However, the deficit in the current transfers account increased to EUR422 million from EUR339 million in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, the capital account balance showed a surplus of EUR67 million, down from EUR139 million in the preceding quarter.
