Reality star Caitlyn Jenner’s documentary series “I Am Cait,” has just aired its penultimate episode on Sunday night. Episode 7 focuses on Caitlyn’s legal name change as well as her struggle to get back in touch with wife of 23 years, Kris Jenner.

The episode starts off with Caitlyn meeting Angelina Jolie’s stylist, Jen Rade. She explains that she admires Jolie’s style and wants to have a similarly classic and elegant look. She expresses concern over her look for the 2015 ESPYS, where she is to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage award. It is the first time that she will be exposed completely as Caitlyn and she knows how vulnerable she will be.

She decides to skip the red carpet in order to avoid the scrutiny. Behind the scenes at the ESPYs, she sneaks in during the commercial break. She accepts her award, delivers her speech and sneaks back out before the show is over.

Her mom, both of her sisters as well as her children from her three marriages were present at the awards. Many of her new transgender friends also made it. Unfortunately, because they have not been communicating since she went public with her transition, Kris did not attend the event.

Caitlyn feels sad about the communication gap with Kris and decides to seek advice from her friend Jenny Boylan. Jenny is a transgender woman, who has stayed married to the wife she was with while she was still living as a man.

Deedie Boylan shares her experience as the wife of a transgender woman and Caitlyn realizes that having a partner is very important. She decides to continue reaching out to Kris and finally manages to get in touch with her. Kris agrees to meet Caitlyn for the first time and comes over for their first face-to-face meeting since Caitlyn completed her transition.

The tense confrontation will be aired in the next episode. In a preview shared by E! Online, Kris is seen emotionally admitting that while she is very happy for Caitlyn, she and the kids miss having Brue around. Caitlyn responds by saying that when the two of them separated, she did not think that the end result would be her transition.

Elsewhere in the episode, Caitlyn struggles to make a decision about her legal name. She puts in an application for a golf membership and fills out the form with Bruce Jenner’s information. Her assistant Ronda Kamihira points out that if she is going to be living as Caitlyn, then she should use that name and gender in her membership. Caitlyn is unconvinced and does more research.

She visits some transgender youth and learns about their experiences in changing their legal name and gender. She also gets advice from Drian Juarez from Los Angeles LGBT center. Juarez tells her more about the legalities of having a name and gender change.

She tells Cait about all the forms and the court process of getting her identity legally changed. Caitlyn and Ronda agree to look into the forms and begin the process soon in order for Caitlyn to make the next big step into fully transitioning.

The season finale of “I Am Cait” airs next Sunday, September 13, 2015 only on E!.
