High Frequency Economics - The headline CPI rose 0.4% with the core up 0.3%, both a tenth above consensus. The core was boosted by above-trend increases in apparel (0.4%), medical care (0.5%), education and communication (0.4%), lodging (1.1%) and tobacco (1.1%). A 0.7% rise in food prices helped lift the headline above the core; energy prices rose slightly. The broad-based core increase, which lifted the y/y rate to a 10-mth high of 2.5% is a bit disconcerting.
