Fans of Ian Somerhalder’s rumored on-again romance with his “Vampire Diaries” co-star, Nina Dobrev, are sure to be thrilled to hear his 2014 New Year’s resolution.
CelebDirtyLaundry.com reported Tuesday that the 35-year-old CW network actor is planning to work hard to win back his former girlfriend, and current TV co-star, this calendar year after months of reconciliation rumors. “Ian has made it his New Year’s resolution to get Nina back, no matter what it takes,” a source told the celebrity rumor site.
According to the "insider," Somerhalder, who officially parted ways with the 24-year-old actress in May, decided to rekindle the romance following Dobrev’s brief fling with “Dancing with the Stars” professional Derek Hough in October. “He reportedly got jealous … and he realized that if he doesn’t do something soon, she might have yet another boyfriend,” reads the report.
In spite of Somerhalder's desire to reconcile, the insider claims that the twosome is determined to take this new phase in their relationship slowly. “They’re not sure, or rather, Nina’s not sure if she’s ready to jump back into such a serious relationship,” said a source, adding, “Nina’s only 24 years old, and her career’s just starting to take off.”
Despite Somerhalder’s rumored New Year’s resolution, the TV actor spent his New Year’s Eve in Tokyo in the company of his "brothers" instead of his brunette co-star. He made his travels known after posting an image of himself toasting his fans with a glass of champagne on Instagram Tuesday. “Happy New Years from Tokyo! 2013 was truly magical. Truly. Let’s make this one even better,” posted Somerhalder.
The famous duo last made headlines after their alleged plans to secretly spend Christmas together were leaked online. CelebDirtyLaundry.com reported last week that they were planning to privately “make time” for one another over the holidays. Unfortunately, for Somerhalder, Dobrev spent her Christmas with Hough, her former boyfriend of six weeks, and his sister, her longtime friend, actress Julianne Hough.
