Paul Walker’s win, along with Vin Diesel, at the MTV Movie Awards for the “best on-screen duo” Golden Popcorn, did not go down well with rapper Ice Cube, who was one of the nominees along with co-star Kevin Hart for the film “Ride Along.”

The rapper claimed that the late actor, who died in a car accident on Nov. 30, and his co-star, won out of “sympathy” on Sunday night and insisted that he and Hart were “robbed.” The hip-hop artist attended the award ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles with his wife, Kimberly Woodruff, but reportedly left early.

"Shame on you, MTV," the 44-year-old star told USA Today, adding that he did not deny that Walker was talented, but "they should have gave it to him before he passed away."

"We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy," Cube reportedly said of his role with Hart. "We were the best onscreen duo, period."

Ice Cube said that he wasn’t enjoying the show and decided to leave.

"I have been going in and out of these things for 25 years. If you ain't into it, why torture yourself? As soon as you get bored, get up and leave," he reportedly said. He also added that another reason behind his leaving the show early was that he learned that the award ceremony for the category would not be televised.

Before the show had begun, Ice Cube tweeted: “On my way to the MTV movie awards. If me and Kevin Hart don't win. The fix is in.”

Here are a series of tweets posted by Ice Cube Monday night, addressing the controversy.
