Friday, the Statistics Iceland announced that the overnight stays in hotels declined 6% year-on-year to 72,900 in February. In January, the number of overnight stays totaled 54,800.

The number of overnight stays by foreigners dropped 1% annually in February, while overnight stay by Icelenders decreased 17%.

At the same time, overnight stays in the East region and Capital region declined by 50% and 11%, respectively.
