The total overnight stays by tourists in hotels in Iceland rose 2% year-on-year to 84,700 in March, a report by Statistics Iceland said Monday. The number of overnight stays by foreigners increased 1%, while those by residents grew 4%.

During the first quarter, total overnight stays declined 3% from last year to 212,200. Overnight stays by foreigners rose 1%, while those by residents slipped 14%.
