RTTNews - Friday, a report by Statistics Iceland said the wage index rose 0.8% sequentially in the first quarter, after rising 0.4% in the fourth quarter.

During the first quarter, wages in the private sector grew 0.3% on a quarterly basis, in contrast to a 0.5% fall in the preceding quarter. Wages in the public sector were up 1.8% compared to a 2.7% growth in the fourth quarter.

Year-on-year, wages in the private and public sectors grew 6.2% in the first quarter, slower than an 8.3% rise in the fourth quarter. Wages in the private sector increased 4.1%, while it rose 11.3% in the public sector.
