MUMBAI (Commodity Online): The International Energy Agency revised its global oil demand forecast for 2010 down by 220,000 barrels a day, mostly due to changes to non-OECD historical data though also because of February data and preliminary estimates for March and April.

More changes may still come because China and Russia have yet to submit comprehensive 2008 demand assessments.

Oil demand has been stronger than anticipated in North America and the Pacific, but somewhat weaker in Asia and the Middle East. Oil demand is estimated at 84.8 million barrels a day in 2009, a drop of 1.4% year-on-year, and 86.4 million barrels a day in 2010, a 1.9% rise.
