The Indian rupee gained ground against the US dollar on Tuesday morning in Asia after slipping to a 5-day low earlier in the session. The rupee that fell to 50.03 against the buck by 8:20 pm ET bounced back and hit as high as 49.66 before leveling off around 9:00 pm. The dollar-rupee pair that closed Monday's New York trading at 49.84 is currently quoted at 49.73.
