The injury-hit Cleveland Indians have put designated hitter Travis Hafner on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right foot, the Major League Baseball team said on Monday.

Hafner pulled up lame while trying to stretch a single into a double during the sixth inning of Sunday's loss to the Detroit Tigers.

Cleveland, second behind Detroit in the American League Central standings, have been without center fielder Grady Sizemore (knee injury) since July 17 and only recently welcomed back right fielder Choo Shin-soo from the disabled list.
