The Indian economic growth was slightly less than 7% in fiscal year 2008-09 because of the global economic crisis, reported the media, quoting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Dr. Singh, while addressing a televised news conference in Mumbai, said that the global economy is in deep trouble and India also suffers from its impact. He said that the impact of economic crisis on our economy is less, compared to other economies.

He said India reported 9% growth in first four years of UPA government and due to global recession, the growth rate for the fifth year was slightly less than 7%.
