India's economy would grow 6.5% to 7% in the current fiscal, said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, reported the PTI. The prime minister added that there was no danger of the country falling into deflation.

Singh admitted there are some regressive trends but said that consumer durable goods are showing improvement. The Central Statistical Organisation last month projected a growth rate of 7.1% for the current fiscal.
