India's inflation for the week ended April 18 rose to 0.57% from the previous week's 0.26%, the Ministry of Commerce Industry said Thursday. Meanwhile, economists had expected the rate to ease to 0.13%. A year ago, inflation was 8.23% in the corresponding week.

The price index for primary articles rose 1.7% during the week ended April 18 and that for fuel, power, light and lubricants grew 0.1%. Prices for manufactured goods were up 0.3%.

At the same time, the ministry revised the inflation figure for the week ended February 21 to 2.99% from 3.03%.
