RTTNews - Current meteorological analysis and numerical weather prediction models suggest further advance of monsoon over some more parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Coastal areas of Orissa during next 2-3 days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on its website.

A cyclonic circulation extending up to mid-troposphere level lies over Gangetic West Bengal and neighborhood. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours, it said. A Western disturbance is likely to cause isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over western Himalayan region during next 2-3 days.

After reaching Kerala nine days ahead of the normal onset on May 23, monsoon rains slowed down thereafter due to the devastating cyclone Aila. Subsequently, the monsoon had covered entire Kerala and TamilNadu and advanced into southern parts of coastal Karnataka, entire northeastern states, parts of coastal Orissa and most parts of West Bengal and Sikkim.
