RTTNews - India's six core industries registered 6.5% growth compared to 5.1% growth in June 2008. During April-June 2009-10, six core industries registered a growth of 4.8% compared with 3.5% during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Crude Oil production increased 4% in the month compared to a negative growth of 4.7% in the year ago period. Coal production showed a robust growth of 14.7% in June 2009 compared to 6.8% in the year ago month. Electricity generation also increased by 7% in the month compared with 2.6% growth in the same month last year. Production of cement rose by 12.8% in June, while it increased by 6.6% in June 2008.

Production by petroleum refinery declined 3.7% in June 2009 compared to a growth of 5.6% in June 2008.The growth in production of finished (carbon) steel dropped to 5.3% in June 2009 compared to 10.4% in June 2008.
