UPDATE: 10:53 a.m. EDT – The Georgia Department of Corrections released the names of both correctional officers killed by two inmates Tuesday. Baldwin State Prison officers Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue both died after two prisoners overpowered them and shot them before escaping from a transport bus.

Monica had been with the department since 2009 and Billue had been with the department since 2007.

The inmates, Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubois, remained on the loose Tuesday as authorities continued their search.

UPDATE: 10:16 a.m. EDT – Two Georgia inmates who escaped from a prison bus Tuesday were able to get away by carjacking another driver, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose overpowered two correctional officers on the bus, killing both of them. The pair stole the officers' .40 caliber Glock pistols before escaping and were considered armed and very dangerous.

Authorities issued a warning for a green Honda Civic with Georgia license plates reading RBJ6601, thought to be the car the pair had hijacked.

UPDATE: 10:00 a.m. EDT – Two prisoners who killed a pair of guards and escaped from custody remained on the run as authorities continued to search for them Tuesday morning. Donnie Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24, were convicted of aggravated assault and armed robbery, according to WSB-TV. Rowe was sentenced to life without parole.

The men were both considered armed and very dangerous and authorities issued a lookout warning for a green Honda Civic with Georgia license plates reading RBJ6601.

A pair of inmates killed two prison guards Tuesday morning as they escaped from custody in Georgia. The men were reportedly on work duty while traveling on a prison bus when they overtook two guards and killed them before running, according to WXIA-TV.

The inmates were identified by the Georgia Department of Corrections in Putnam County as Donnie Russel Rowe and Ricky Dubose. It was unclear what they were in custody for.

The incident occurred about 7:23 a.m. on Georgia’s Highway 16 southeast of Atlanta, according to Putnam County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Teresa Slade. At least one witness said the men escaped the scene in a dark green Honda, according to WDRB-TV.

A search was underway Tuesday morning for the two men. The United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force was assisting local authorities.
