Integrated Electrical Services (IES), a leading national provider of electrical and communications systems and services for the commercial, industrial and residential markets, today announced the expansion of its Atlanta-based Communications Division with the opening of its office in Southern California. In addition, the Communications Division also announced plans to expand into Atlanta, Ga.

IES designs, builds and maintains a broad range of projects, from office buildings to wind farms to housing developments. Many of the company’s contracts come from growth in the technology sector, which provides the company the opportunity to secure contracts with Fortune 500 companies.

The company has won contracts for several major data communications projects, which include upgrading wireless local area network infrastructures, installing voice and data cabling systems, upgrading Ethernet network technology, installing fiber optic backbone systems and distributed antenna systems (DAS), and other communications and audio/visual build outs and upgrades.

IES’ Communications Division has worked on projects such as upgrading the wireless local area network (LAN) infrastructure for the University of Phoenix, one of the nation’s premier online and on-campus university systems; the project encompasses more than 350 sites across the country.

The Communications Division was also responsible for installing a voice and data cabling infrastructure for a new multi-use facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory; upgrading network technology at various Roanoke, Va., City Public Schools; and installing a fiber optic backbone system to 35 telecommunications rooms and upgrades of the communications network to Category 6 rated Ethernet cables for Children’s National Medical Center in the District of Columbia.
